THE WOMEN OF THE DAY
This Paris Karate Open gave its first surprise in the morning with the qualification for the final for Italy’s Viviana Bottaro. By beating Kiyou Shimizu in the semi-finals, 26.26 against 26.22, the Italian and her Papuren was judged better than the Chibana No Kushanku of the Japanese. Bottaro ends 16 consecutive finals in all competitions for Shimizu. The last time that the Japanese did not reach the finals was for the K1 of Dubai in February 2018...
THE FIGHT OF THE DAY
Busa / Da Costa : After a semi-final held during the last K1 of Madrid where Logan Da Costa won, the revenge took place during the 3rd round of the Open Paris Karate and it kept its promises. Very tactical, the fight was played on a resetting in gyaku tsuki of Logan Da Costa at 23 seconds from the end and the French won a second time in a row over the Italian World champion.
THE ACTION OF THE DAY
In the semi-finals, Logan Da Costa is led 1-0 by Japan’s Sakiyama (who beat Aghayev previuosly). He then performs a beautiful mawashi geri Jodan to lead 3-1 and go to the final.
Led 6-2, Japanese Miho Miyahara won her semi-final 8-6 in the last minute with two Jodan leg techniques and overturned the fight.
