The Nikkan Sports daily announced the resignation of Masao Kagawa yesterday. The latter is accused of having injured and subjected too intense moral pressure to the 2016 world champion, Ayumi Uekusa (read here).

They both went to the Japanese Karate Federation's Ethics Committee last week, that said Masao Kagawa's training methods could be dangerous.

The federation is said to be considering a possible sanction against Kagawa, who has taken the lead by submitting his resignation from all the positions he occupies within it. He said in the daily newspaper : "I take full responsibility in this matter. To put an end to this story quickly, I am resigning from all my posts within the federation."

Acknowledging the fact of using Shinai in training, he continues to claim that he never intended to hurt Ayumi Uekusa but that a breach of trust between her and him arose. So far, the Japanese federation has not commented on Masao Kagawa's resignation.
